Solution structure of a cucurbit[8]uril induced compact supramolecular protein dimer.

چکیده

Supramolecular assembly of a beta-barrel protein via cucurbit[8]uril results in compact z-shaped protein dimers. SAXS data reveal the formation of a well ordered protein dimer, notwithstanding being connected by a reversible and flexible peptide linker, and highlight the supramolecular induced interplay of the proteins, analogous to covalently linked proteins.

The interplay of Phe-Gly-Gly (FGG)-tagged proteins and bivalent FGG-tagged penta(ethylene glycol) as guest molecules with cucurbit[8]uril (Q8) hosts is studied to modulate the supramolecular assembly process. Ring structure formation of the bivalent guest molecule with Q8 leads to enhanced binding properties and efficient inhibition of protein assemblies.

Cucurbit[8]uril-based supramolecular polymers: promoting supramolecular polymerization by metal-coordination.

Linear supramolecular polymers were obtained in aqueous solution by employing cucurbit[8]uril-based host-guest interaction as the driving force. Water-soluble monomers were prepared through direct metal-coordination. The rigid and bulky terpyridine-Fe linker can effectively enhance the monomer's solubility and suppress its cyclization, thereby promoting supramolecular polymerization.
